Terms

What this site is, and what it is not

It is a demonstration. Nothing on it is an offer, a quote, a warranty or professional advice for your particular house.

The demonstration disclaimer

Hearth Home Comfort is a fictional company created to demonstrate a website design. It does not trade, it does not hold a licence, and it cannot come to your house. The licence number, phone number, street address, staff names, customer testimonials, review counts and prices on this site are all placeholders.

No form on this site submits anywhere. Submitting one confirms in your browser and does nothing else.

Technical content

The heating and cooling explanations on this site are written to be accurate as general information, and they describe real standards, ratings and practices. They are not advice about your specific house. Load calculations, balance points, refrigerant charge, combustion safety and humidity settings all depend on the particular building and the particular equipment, and none of that can be determined from a web page.

Anything involving combustion appliances, refrigerant or gas piping should be carried out by a licensed contractor. Handling refrigerant in the United States requires EPA Section 608 certification.

If a carbon monoxide alarm is sounding in your home, leave the building and call your gas utility. Do not use anything on this website as a reason to delay that.

Figures and incentives

Where this site discusses utility rebates or federal tax credits, it deliberately describes the mechanism rather than quoting dollar amounts, because those change and a stale figure is worse than none. Nothing here is tax advice. Consult whoever prepares your return.

What a real terms of service would add

  • Scope of work, and what constitutes a change order
  • Estimates versus fixed quotes, and how long a quote stays valid
  • Payment terms, deposits on equipment orders, and late payment
  • Labour warranty period, and how it interacts with manufacturer parts warranties
  • Cancellation, rescheduling and missed appointment terms in both directions
  • Access, pets, parking and what is needed for the work to go ahead
  • Limitation of liability, and the insurance carried
  • Dispute resolution, and the governing state law

Intellectual property

The layout, written content, illustrations and code of this demonstration site belong to its author. Photographic imagery was generated for this demonstration. The brand name and mark are fictional.
